Important Terminology to understand in UFT.
Guy's here we will be going to learn some of the important terminology which we will be going to use
across the course content:-
1. Test Object -If you think logically then the name itself is describing everything, "Test object"
means the application object which we are going to test are the Test object.
or even we can say that the objects which are stored in the object repository at the time of recording are called Test objects.
Example of test object - Text box, List Box, radio button, label, link, button.
2. Run time objects : - The application object which you see at the time of running the UFT is called
Run time objects.
3. Application Object: - Application objects are those object which are present in the application or it can be anything which resides in the application are called Application object.
Like- Radio button, link, Text box, label, check box etc.
4. Description of the object/ Properties of the Object:-Every Application or test object are supported by the list of the properties, which help the UFT to identify the object.
Ex: -WebEdit(“Username”) – Object
Now to identify this object UFT requires their
PropertyLike – name, html id, text etc.
5. Object, Method and Property.
- Object: - Object represents a real world entity it can be anything like
Car, Chair, Table, Men, Women etc.
- Method:- means in how many variety we can use the object.
Take an example of object – Men, then Methods will be Dance, Walk, Eating, running etc.
- Properties:-requires to identify the object.
Like nose, eye color, hair color, face cut is required to identify this object.
Points to remember: - Always remember one point about object, method and property, whenever you call object then the following are the valid conventions to use:-
Object.Method
Object.Property
Object.Method.property
And rarely you will find “Object.Method.Method” which is still valid.
Other than above all are the invalid conventions of calling the object.
